About
Laura Nieuwenhuis is a visual artist from the Netherlands whose work is process based with one series of work flowing into another. Nature, landscapes and the human interference are her main fascinations. She turns her observations into her own interventions. Always looking for possibilities and new insights she is trying to connect to the subject matter. While photography is often the beginning of a new work, projects come together through playing and experimenting with different techniques and materials, like drawing, the use of adhesive film, collage, different kind of papers and foils, gel printing, riso printing and more. She travels to collect her photographic materials and loves to visit botanical gardens. Lately she is concentrating on book making.
Besides being a visual artist (AKV/St. Joost, BA of Fine art), Laura is an artist teacher (ArtEZ, MEd) for creative vocational education where she helps students to find their own creativity and guides them to understand their creative processes with different challenges with art at its core.
